#Kaleo2011: Week 5

The motto of our D-Group this summer is ‘#ALLin.’ We apply going all in with how we approach each night of training, our individual pursuit of God, and even the crazy adventures, we so many times find ourselves in.

With our summer in Gulf Shores, AL half way over it seems like we’re still moving with full force desiring to leave no question unasked nor opportunity missed to learn as much as we can!

Day 27

Day 27: Our talk Monday night was all about pursuing holiness in our media intake. Reality is we’re continuously surrounded by music, television, movies, and books that can be hindering to our individual pursuits of holiness. Practically, it’s been so encouraging to see how we’re each raising our standards of intake!

Day 28

Day 28: Julie, a past roommate and K-State graduate, was able to join us for dinner on Tuesday night. She’ll be launching in July for a cultural exchange in India for the next 3 years! Here life and advice was encouraging!

Day 29

Day 29: After a day of work, time with Kara, who’s on staff with StuMo, was WONDERFUL! A picnic at the park and soaking in her thoughts on life was the perfect way to spend an evening!

Day 30

Day 30: T.N.T. we learned all about Fellowship and the importance of ‘Locking Shields’ with people for life. It was amazing to prayer that the four of us would still be locking shields where ever our missions take us!

Day 31

Day 31: Our signature move!

Day 32

Day 32: Like Aladdin, we learned about the ‘Whole New World’ of relationships through the Word of God. Friday and Saturday we learned about the gift of singleness, dating, and marriage. It was amazing to simply learn about the intricate, perfect—sometimes confusing---ways that God masterfully created man and woman.

#Kaleo2011: Week 4

Each Sunday night as i take the time to look back through pictures, I'm always amazed at how quickly the time down here is going. As you can see on Day 21 this week’s focus was on prayer. It was unreal to honestly see how God answered prayer after prayer this week, from conversations with coworkers to big prayers casting vision for our futures!

Day 20

Day 20: We’ve definitely made Gulf Shores ‘fake home’ for the summer. Though we are staying in a long-term hotel, the Staybridge Suites are our home. Complete with family pictures and inspiring posters, we love our little corner in the south!

Day 21 b

Day 21: The focus of this week at Kaleo was prayer. From learning the importance of praying, witnessing the effects of prayer in others lives, and practicing it ourselves—prayer was a highlight for each of us. In our kitchen we keep prayer lists so we can always know what we can be praying for!

Day 22

Day 22: Having StuMo staff over for dinner has definitely been a highlight of the summer. Mexican food and advice from Godly women, it doesn’t get much better than that!

Day 23

Day 23: Thursday night we were able to have one of Alyson’s coworkers from Chick-Fil-A join us for T.N.T. She’s a student at Auburn living down here for the summer!

Day 24

Day 24: This weekend was D-Group Weekend. The Only Rule: we must leave our ‘home’ from Friday evening until Sunday evening! Right after work, we piled into our vehicle for our grand adventure arriving in Richmond Hill, GA at 5:30 a.m. aka daybreak!

Day 25 a

Day 25: Staying near Savannah, Georgia we started our day off downtown on River Street, including a visit to Paula Dean’s restaurant, then were off to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for the evening! Our time was full of local restaurants, a new church family in Georgia, and hours of life chats!

Day 26 a

Day 26: Planking (something we just recently learned about) was the challenge given to every d-group before leaving for the weekend. Basically lay face down wherever, with whom ever you can find. Here a garage band from South Carolina was willing to let us plank for a picture!

#Kaleo2011: Week 3

Sharing life with like-minded people is one of the greatest blessings of following Christ. This week was a constant reminder of how God allows people to cross paths. Truly only could God have created a friendship as Tiffany, Sara, Alyson, and i have.

Day 13

Day 13: Monday night is T.V.T. This week we learned more about the Inductive Bible Study Method. It’s a three step process where you Observe the passage grammatically, Interpret the passage taking into account the context surrounding it, then finally we Apply it to our lives!

Day 14

Day 14: As we’re reading through the book "Pursuit of Holiness” we were comparing how holiness should mark our lives as evidently as tattoos do. Though we did get a bit creative with designs, no worries we’re too scared to get a real one! lol

Day 15

Day 15: Wednesday night we were treated to dinner by a guy’s d-group. It was awesome to see how God is working throughout the project!

Day 16

Day 16: This week the focus of the project was on God’s Word. If we want to thrive as a follower of Christ we must have His Word permeating our lives! Our Thursday night speaker shared 3 Actions: Submit to It*Consume It* Gotta Do It*

Day 17

Day 17: Social #2: Hoe Down, Thrown Down Line Dancing, 2 Stepping, and plenty of bling put us ladies right in our element!

Day 18

Day 18: After Beach Evangelism, where Sara and I got to witness a girl accept Christ. #miracleonthebeach We enjoyed time with some our favorite ladies at LuLu’s for dinner.

#Kaleo2011: Week 2

From the time our alarms go off bright and early in the morning to the time we head to bed, we get to constantly share life with fellow believers, primarily our D-Group (short for discipleship group). With one focus, one reason we came down here this summer, we are consistently pushing each other to grow, serve, and love God more deeply.

Purpose of Kaleo: To establish and equip college students to walk with God and make disciples.

How exactly are we are we doing this? Life-on-Life.

Here’s a few snapshots from our week.

Day 6

Day 6: After a day of work (Tiffany at Old Time Pottery, Alyson at Chick-Fil-A, Me at Banana Republic and Sara will be at McDonald’s), cooking dinner together, training on how to read our bibles, nightly prayer times—basically we are like a family.
